Dr. Robert McMaster

Dr. Robert McMaster is a co-lead for Canada’s Immuno-Engineering and Biomanufacturing Hub. He received a D.Phil. in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford with research interests are in the areas of molecular immunology, and transplant immunology and genomics of host pathogen interactions. He previously served as head of the Department of Medical Genetics from 2000 to 2010 and was also director of the Immunity and Infection Research Centre of VCHRI and director of Transplant Immunology for BC Transplant.

He is a Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics, and Vice Dean Research, Faculty of Medicine. Dr. McMaster is an advocate for health research and clinical trials and was Chair, Research Canada and Chair of the Advisory Committee for Clinical Trials BC where he was instrumental in the development of the BC COVID-19 Clinical Research Coordination Initiative (CCRI).
